Welcome Note from HOD
ENGLISH DEPARTMENT: TERM TWO
WELCOME NOTE
Dear students, parents, the entire Oshwal Fraternity and visitors to this website.
Allow me this rare luxury of wishing you a rewarding new year (happens only after 12 months). Right?
Good news. While most students were away for December holiday, students from the academy took part in the final leg of the Brookhouse’ Rhino Cup debate. To cut a long story short, we won. That means OAN IS the defending champion. Kudos to the participating students, the teachers and all those who offered us their moral support. Please see the bulletin for details.
This term promises all the students of OAN Junior High a varied yet rich and rewarding academic life spiced up with loads of departmental, inter-schools as well as international activities.
A glimpse at the calendar of activities will reveal that the term is bee busy with a flurry of truly engaging activities for any student who desires to make his activity’s card rich. Take for instance the already announced Royal Commonwealth Writing Essay Competition open to 54 common wealth countries (of which Kenya is a member). The winners will be jetted to England for their awards. Suppose a student wishes to try his or her gift of the gab? No problem, the department has inter- house debates lined up. How about the theatrical performances of language arts? Sure there is the Nairobi schools Verse Speaking Competition that a host of students are already working on.
It would be gravely wrong if we forgot the main highlight of the term, the MSMUN coming up in a week or so. We wish all the delegates, ambassadors and all a successful event at the UN headquarters.
You see, this is just a tip of the ice berg. Check our school calendar of activities for details like dates and venues.
As a parent, please feel that it is your parental duty to positively motivate your son/daughter to take part, to belong, to contribute and who knows? You may be helping him/her nurture or advance a latent talent or skill bottled up in him/her.
