German

The German language department encompasses the club and the language classes.The club was founded in October 2008 with Ms Kristin being the patron as well as the language teacher.The club has celebrated  German day twice,and has also taken part in other 2nd language activities like elocution and poetry competitions at Nairobi academy.

German language has been taught for over 5 years in the school,starting from year 7 to year 11.At year 11,the students get to sit for their ‘O’ level exams from Edexel.

Currently the department has about 100 students,out of which 10 will be sitting for their exam this year May\June.

The German exam consists of three(3) papers;

Paper 1-Listening  -30 minutes.

Paper 2-Continuous writing -1hour 30 minutes

.            Paper 3-Oral Role play-speaking -10 minutes.

The German students enjoy learning using the Logo text and work  books 1 to 4,accompanied with 3 cassettes each.

There is a German room from where the lessons and club activities are conducted.The room has Informative Charts which are done by students as well as gifts from Goethe Institut.We are proud to own an Audio/CD player Radio which we use for the lessons and visual lessons take place in the smart board room.

The club has organised trips Germanic in Nature to Mombasa and around Nairobi;this year focusing on Goethe Institut and the German school.We are working on an exchange program between our school and other schools that offer German language both locally and internationally.
