PURE MATHEMATICS – CODE 8373
Pure Mathematics is a branch of Mathematics which deals with certain functions which are not taught in Ordinary Level Math. Pure Math exposes the students to more mathematical skills by inculcating a better understanding of facts and principles involved in various functions.
These functions are Quadratic functions, Trigonometric functions, Binomial and Polynomial functions, Differential and Integrated functions and Vectorial functions. Pure Math actually fuses Ordinary Level Math with A – Level Math. Most of the topics in Pure Math form part of the syllabus for AS level Core Math, that is – C1, C2 and C3 in form Five. Students who take Pure Math at IGCSE have a greater advantage of understanding and will be able to cope easily with the A-Level Core Math.
We have realised that these students perform better even in other branches of science especially in Physics. Students of Pure Math also have a greater advantage the university admissions. They have a wider option and students who opt for Engineering, Actuarial Science , MORSE ,Banking and financing, etc, find this subject critical to their preparation for university.
