Saturday 22nd January was a family affair. Time, 10.20 to 12.30. The Academy witnessed an informative and interactive seminar at Junior High Auditorium presided over by Dr Hirani, a Neuropsychologist specializing in the Irlen Syndrome, a genetic condition that impairs learning. Though prevalent, it was shocking to note that many do not eve know of its existence. We are grateful to the O.E. & R.B. for organizing this important function for all teaching staff in the academy. Dr. Hirani’s work is groundbreaking given Oshwal Academy is the first school in the country to listen to her and also that she has been tasked with sensitizing Kenya on this condition. The only other country in Africa with such an intervention is South Africa. Principal, Mrs. Chotai assured the staff of a plan to train a section of the staff on mitigating the effects of the Irlen Syndrome as part of the academy’s goal of updating the skills of the staff to meet emerging challenges. In attendance was O.E. & R.B. General Manager, Mr. Shantilal Khetshi Shah.
